Laptop motherboard failure can turn-off your budget! The motherboard is the main component and is quite expensive. It is also known as the main PCB (Printed Circuit Board) that enables the laptop system to run efficiently. In this blog, I have shared some of the important checklist and techniques from the laptop motherboard repair course. I hope it will help you while repairing the motherboard.
Give Your Motherboard A Physical Check:
You can detect a motherboard failure by simply viewing the physical condition of the PCB. See which of the component is discolored or is showing signs of over-heating. The other important trick is to check whether all the components are seated securely in their sockets. At times, the components are not well-fitted in the motherboard. This prevents the system from working properly. During my training in laptop motherboard repair course, I used to learn about the positioning of the laptop components. Below, I have prepared a checklist to help you.
• Power supply checking must be your first step. Ensure that motherboard is supplied with continuous power without any break-up points.
• It is important that you remove all the expansion cards.
• Check output and input of the laptop system.
• Add another video card so that you can see there is no problem in the video card.
• Before opening /disassembling the laptop, always take anti-static precautions.
What will you need for laptop motherboard repair?
In my laptop motherboard repair training, I came to know that repairing motherboard is quite a big challenge for any technician. It is important to take a look at your needs for systematic diagnosis or testing. For the same, always keep a toolkit ready that has all the components frequently used in the laptop repairing process. You can include the following items in your list:
• A complete toolkit ( with the latest screwdrivers)
• Software Test Suite
• Laptop connectors (Serial & Parallel)
• A Digital Multimeter (For diagnosing/testing purposes)
• Components (Like processors, batteries, video cards)
• An anti-static wrist strap
• An Oscilloscope (CRO)
In laptop motherboard repair course, students can learn to fix any model of motherboard. However, preparation is extremely important to avoid any further damage to the system.
